How Are Tattoos Removed?
Skinful Tattoo Removal uses a Q-Switched ND:Yag laser to target the pigment in the tattoo ink that sits below the skins surface. The laser will break the ink into smaller particles of pigment and your body’s natural immune system will then absorb, break down and dispose of the pigment over a period of time.
Is Laser Tattoo Removal Painful?
Each person has a different level of pain tolerance so there is no exact answer. There will be some mild discomfort that is often described as a rubber band being snapped on the skin. We use Zimmer Cryo Therapy to help reduce discomfort during the tattoo removal treatment.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
There are many factors that play into this.
The age, location, quality of the tattoo ink used as well as the colors of ink, combined with your body’s ability to dispose of the ink will determine the total number of treatments needed. We will discuss the entire process with you during your Free Consultation; This also allows us to set realistic expectations.
Will There Be Any Scarring?
Scarring is rare, but it is possible if the aftercare instructions are not followed.
Can Only a Portion of My Tattoo be Removed?
Absolutely!! Many of our clients have a portion of a tattoo they would like completely removed or lightened for cover up , and we can target just those desired areas of the tattoo for you!
What’s Involved With Aftercare?
Aftercare is very important in the tattoo removal process. We will cover aftercare instructions in detail at the time of removal and will also ensure you leave with an aftercare instruction sheet.
How long do I have to wait between treatments?
Each tattoo is different and unique due to many factors. All of these factors will be covered during your free consultation. Typically we will schedule each treatment 4-6 weeks apart initially. Depending on the tattoo ink used, skin type and the way in which your body responds or your desired outcome, some treatments may be scheduled 8-12 weeks apart.
What if I only want to lighten my tattoo / get it covered?
We help many clients achieve their lightening goals so they can get a new tattoo cover up. We can stop treatments when your tattoo artist is happy with the results and believes we have reached a point in which they can give you the tattoo you desire.
